WordPress Workshop: Customizing themes, October 26, 2013

You will need a laptop, and a local web server installed on your laptop so you can easily work on websites. You could also work on a hosted site, but working live on a site often disrupts it and it’s better and faster to work on a local server. We’ll add notes on how to setup a local server soon.

10:20 – What is a child theme and creating child themes

11:00 – Intro to HTML & CSS with workshop

1:00 – Intro to PHP and the WordPress Loop – Part 1
1:20 – Workshop – Intro to PHP and the WordPress Loop
1:40 – Intro to PHP and the WordPress Loop – Part 2
2:00 – Workshop – Intro to PHP and the WordPress Loop
2:30 – Open workshop – Work on your theme with some help.
Advanced
10-15 min lighting talks with discussion periods on advanced topics like SAAS, icon fonts, enqueuing scripts and styles.
