September 2017 WordPress Meet-Up

Getting Started with WordPress…

Wish you had a website or blog but don’t want or can’t afford to pay for it? Come learn how to setup and configure your free blog or website on WordPress.com.

Tonight a complete website from beginning to end will be created right before your eyes. All of the essentials will be covered including:

  • Creating a WordPress.com account;
  • Creating a WordPress blog;
  • Creating a WordPress website;
  • Learning how to change the look of your site;
  • Learning the difference between pages and posts;
  • Adding content including text, photos and even a photo gallery;
  • Creating an About Us page;
  • Creating Contact Us web form;
  • How to safely allow visitors to leave comment without getting unwanted spam;
  • Learning the secret listing your site in the Google search engine.

Everyone is welcome however this evening will be of particular interest to those wanting to get started with a personal blog, or create a website for a club, activity team or special event (wedding, birthday, memorial, graduation, etc.) or other special interest group. The information will also be of interest to those who want to learn how to manage a self-hosted WordPress.org site as many of the topics discussed will be similar. Don’t know what the difference is between a WordPress.com and a WordPress.org type of site? Come find out. If you can use MS Word, you can do this too!

Can you believe we are going to cover all this in just one hour? Sounds like a lot but maybe it’s not actually as complicated as you think. Be ready to take lots of notes as this will be a live session!
