Introducing WordPress theme WordPress development
I’m going to be giving a presentation introducing beginner WordPress developers to theme development. We will cover topics such as theme structure, content types, the loop, styles, functions.php, and even deploying a theme with git/github, given the time. A basic knowledge of PHP and the usage of WordPress is required for this talk. We will not be discussing user-facing features, rather the code that generates the pages that users see. Slides and source code will be provided!
Presented by: Connor Hicks. Connor is the newest intern at Automattic! He works for the WordPress VIP team working on internal tools. He also attended Carleton University studying Computer Science, with a concentration in mobile development and web services.
This is an introductory level talk for anyone who is interested in learning how to begin customizing WordPress.
Meeting Details:
This is a meetup in our “Not Beginner” series. This series of talks is for WordPress (or related) presentations that are not at a beginner level. Anyone at any experience level is welcome to attend, but there will be an assumption in the presentations and discussion that attendees have some knowledge of WordPress.
